Zerodha is an online discount broker whereas Kotak Securities is a full service broker. Zerodha broker offers more services at minimalistic rates and is a newer broker in the market. The exchanges at which these brokers work are almost similar except for one or two that Kotak Securities offers additionally.
Kotak Securities charge Rs. 750 as the fee for opening a trading account. However, Zerodha charges only Rs. 300 for the same. The trading platforms also differ as Zerodha uses Zerodha PI, Z25, and Zerodha Trader. Kotak securities charges a minimum of Rs. 21 per executed order for brokerage charges. Zerodha has an advantage here, as it doesn’t charge anything for brokerage charges.
Both the brokers provide customer support and basic amenities like email services and phone services that are of use in online share trading. Kotak Securities provides a full tech-support for customers by proffering facilities like 24/7 customer service and SMS facility.
However, the equity charges vary too much and are set too high for Kotak Securities. On the other hand, Zerodha gives all the equity features at reasonably low rates. Zerodha also provides necessary features like brokerage calculator and margin calculator to serve its clients with easy to use tools and facilities.
